A band of ten merry cyclists spent nine days exploring the Eastern Ontario foodscape from the saddles of their bikes. Whether weeding the carrots or meeting with food producers to learn how goat chevre is made, tour members gained a new understanding of where our food comes from and the issues involved in producing it. Highlights included a visit to a large scale mushroom operation, a DIY condiment workshop with an Ottawa foodie, preparing mulch for Covenant Farm's vegetable CSA and meeting with a Haudenosaunee scientist - the first farmers in Ontario. Everyone left with new friends, new recipes, and a more complex understanding of the local food system.
